An AAC app for every child who has something to say

AAC stands for augmentative and alternative communication: any way of saying something that is not speech. Incluve is for people who do not speak, or who do not speak easily, and for the families, teachers and therapists around them. You tap words, the app builds them into a sentence, and it speaks the sentence out loud.

This is the question we are asked most, and we asked it ourselves. Research into AAC has consistently found the opposite: giving someone a reliable way to be understood tends to support spoken language rather than replace it. We are parents rather than clinicians, so ask your speech and language therapist too. They will have seen this more often than we have.

Incluve is free for 30 days with every feature unlocked. After that it is a subscription. The current price is shown in the App Store and on Google Play before anything is charged, and it is the same app either way. There is no higher tier and nothing held back for it.

Because a one-off payment funds a launch, not an app. Phones and tablets change underneath a product every year, voices change, and support requests do not stop. We have watched AAC tools bought outright quietly stop working, and we would rather not do that to a family who depends on this one.

From your device account settings, the same place as any other subscription. Billing is handled by App Store and Google Play, not by us. Cancelling stops future charges; it does not refund the period you are already in.

On the device, and nowhere else. Incluve collects no personal data, there is no account to create and nothing to sync. Photos, favourites and phrases stay in the app on that phone or tablet. Subscription details are held by the app stores, so we never see payment information either.

That is the point of Favourites. Add a photograph of their actual dog, their actual grandmother, the specific snack they want, sorted into 28 categories. About 200 are there from the start so the app is usable on day one, and your own sit alongside them at the top of the main screen and inside sentences.

21 languages, each with 4 or more of Google's natural voices. During setup you choose the language, listen to the voices available for it, and pick one before you ever hand the device over. Wording is suited to age and culture rather than translated word for word.

No. It was built for our son, but nothing in it is childish. Adults who have lost speech, or who have never used it, need the same things: big targets, a voice that sounds like a person, and their own words rather than a clinical vocabulary list.

A dedicated device costs hundreds of pounds up front, arrives with a template vocabulary, and is one more thing to carry. Incluve runs on the phone or tablet that is already in the house, that the family already knows how to charge, and that a child is already comfortable holding.
